The second of two boys, Leighton Lewis, popularly known as [Kuda] Qwashi grew up in the heart of Clarendon, Jamaica and knew from a young age that he was destined for greatness.

For his entire life, he has found himself overwhelmed naturally by the love for music. During high school he was the considered the drummer for lunch time dj-ing and clashes, and would pound away at desks and blackboards releasing percussive beats with dexterity.

During his years at university, he pursued another passion in a limited capacity, finding himself becoming more and more interested in fashion designing. He began to keep a portfolio of his drawings and do research into the fashion industry in Jamaica. But the inevitable love for music would win and he decided to put that into full focus.

Since then he has endeavored to teach himself the fine art of music production and has managed to produce a plethora of beats & rhythms. While doing so, he has aligned himself with some of the biggest names in music engineering and production and has undertaken an internship with David Kennedy (who has engineered for names such as Maty J. Blige, Diddy, Mos Def, and Shabba to name a few). Qwashi is currently working with various upcoming artistes through his budding company, Maroon Republic.
